Member of Parliament Vasile Costiuc under ANI scrutiny for violating the incompatibility regime

The National Integrity Authority (ANI) launched an investigation into MP Vasile Costiuc, leader of the "Democracy at Home" Party, following a complaint alleging a possible violation of the legal regime on incompatibilities.

A complaint was filed with the National Integrity Authority (ANI) on December 12, 2025, after a parliamentarian allegedly admitted during an online broadcast that he did not include the Public Association "Din Trecutul Nostru," which he has founded and managed since December 2016, in his declarations of assets and personal interests.

During the same broadcast, Vasile Costiuc reportedly stated that he is the administrator of the company "Biofruct Moldova SRL," based in Bucharest, and that he holds 60% of its capital.

According to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, individuals in public office are prohibited from simultaneously holding another position or engaging in any paid activities, except for teaching and scientific work.

Therefore, within 30 days of the validation of their mandate, deputies must relinquish any incompatible roles. If they cannot do so, they must demonstrate that they acted in good faith to resolve the conflict.

In a response sent to ANI on January 30, Vasile Costiuc claimed that he had initiated the process to terminate his roles as administrator for both entities and stated that he had not received any income from these positions during his tenure as a deputy.

However, the integrity inspector determined that the parliamentarian had not provided evidence that he had attempted to eliminate the incompatibility within the legal 30-day period, prompting the initiation of a control procedure.
