Reform report sent to Brussels ahead of next EU Growth Plan tranche

The Government in Chisinau will submit a consolidated report to the European Commission by the end of January this year regarding the implementation of reforms. This document will serve as the foundation for the disbursement of the next instalment of the Economic Growth Plan, which is financed by the European Union and amounts to a total of 1.9 billion euros. This information was shared by the Secretary General of the Government, Alexei Buzu, during the "PE FAȚĂ" show on Moldova 1 TV, aired on January 13.
The authorities estimate that they have achieved over 90 percent of the necessary measures required for the disbursement of the upcoming tranche.
“We will provide the report to the European Commission on January 31, so that it can review it and release the next tranche. For 2026, our plan includes nearly twice as many measures to implement, and their complexity will certainly increase. Therefore, we must work with urgency, discipline, and consistency,” said Buzu on public television.
According to the Secretary General, the main objective for this year remains European integration. The Government aims to accelerate economic growth in 2026 and intensify reforms in the justice system.
“In 2025, despite all the challenges, we achieved relatively good results compared to other candidate countries. We need to align ourselves more actively with the European framework in terms of regulations, laws, and Government decisions. Above all, we must expedite our efforts to reform the justice system. We need courageous and integrity-driven individuals in the justice system, as many high-profile cases are still pending, and we are all waiting for clear outcomes,” mentioned Alexei Buzu.
We remind you that the release of the first tranche of 270 million euros from the Growth Plan for Moldova was announced by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, on July 4, 2025, during her visit to Chișinău for the first Moldova-European Union Summit. This funding was designated for economic reforms, connectivity, governance, and green transition, aiming to support the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova.
The Facility Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, outlining the specific modalities for implementing EU support under the Reform and Growth Mechanism for the Republic of Moldova, was signed on May 9, 2025.
