Driver detained after serious Cimișlia crash that claimed the lives of a young man and a baby

A 36-year-old man was detained on Thursday, January 15, following a serious road accident involving a Mercedes car that occurred on January 14 on the R-3 road, heading toward the Cimișlia district, according to a police announcement.

The accident occurred around 3:30 PM when a 27-year-old man driving a Toyota, with three passengers on board, attempted to make a left turn. At that moment, a Mercedes allegedly overtook the Toyota at high speed and collided with its left side.

As a result of the impact, both the Toyota driver and an eight-month-old child, who was a passenger in the same vehicle, tragically lost their lives. Additionally, three other individuals were injured, including two passengers from the Toyota and the driver of the Mercedes, and they were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The police have opened a criminal case and are conducting an investigation to determine all the circumstances surrounding the accident.
