Davos 2026: Moldova showcases economic reforms and EU path to global leaders

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Deputy PM Eugeniu Osmochescu are representing the Republic of Moldova at the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos. The delegation aims to bolster dialogue with international partners and attract new strategic investments to the country.
The Moldovan leadership is promoting the nation as a predictable and transparent environment for entrepreneurs. This strategy follows a series of reforms intended to align the domestic market with European standards and ensure long-term economic stability.
Strengthening international partnerships
The delegation’s agenda includes bilateral meetings with European political leaders, EU commissioners, and heads of multilateral financial institutions. These discussions focus on Moldova’s role as a reliable partner in Eastern Europe despite regional geopolitical challenges.
"Our goal is to meet strategic partners to bring more investment to Moldova, creating prosperity and well-paid jobs," stated Prime Minister Munteanu. He emphasized that the government is focused on providing a safe climate for global business development.
Strategic sectors and Luxembourgish investment
Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Eugeniu Osmochescu, highlighted that investment remains a key priority across all sectors. These include agriculture, IT, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure projects such as river transport and road modernization.
On the sidelines of the forum, PM Munteanu met with his Luxembourgish counterpart, Luc Frieden. The two officials discussed regional security and the economic impact of the invasion of Ukraine on Moldova's development.
Currently, 23 companies with Luxembourgish capital operate in Moldova, with total investments exceeding €10.7 million (approx. 211 million MDL). Luxembourg currently ranks 14th among Moldova's top foreign investors.
