Macron to Trump in leaked texts: "We can do great things in Iran"

U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed private correspondence from French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday via his Truth Social platform. The leaked screenshots reveal a proposal for an unscheduled G7 summit in Paris involving high-level representatives from Ukraine, Russia, Syria, and Denmark.
The messages indicate a direct confrontation regarding Trump’s interest in Greenland. Macron reportedly told the U.S. President that he "did not understand" Trump’s actions concerning the territory before pivoting to an invitation for a working dinner in Paris.
"Let’s have dinner together in Paris on Thursday, before you return to the United States," the French leader’s message read, as shared by Trump.
Strategic alignment on Iran
The correspondence also highlights a push for closer cooperation on Middle Eastern policy. Macron assured Trump of their shared goals, writing, "My friend, we are in full alignment on Syria. We can do great things in Iran."
The Elysee Palace has since confirmed the authenticity of the messages to Agence France-Presse (AFP). The leak marks a significant departure from standard diplomatic protocol between G7 heads of state.
