Freezing rain and ice trigger emergency maintenance across

The Moldovan Ministry of Energy has issued an official warning regarding potential stability issues within the national power grid. Adverse weather conditions forecast for today, January 26, may lead to localized outages and infrastructure damage.

Authorities report that freezing rain and ice accumulation could cause power lines to snap and damage electricity pylons. Heavy precipitation is also expected to hamper emergency crews' access to rural and remote regions.

Government officials advise citizens to stay away from downed cables and report incidents immediately to local distributors. Residents should disconnect sensitive electronics to prevent damage from potential voltage fluctuations.

Infrastructure response

Road maintenance teams have already conducted large-scale operations across 32 districts over the past 24 hours. Crews deployed 829 tons of salt and 92 tons of anti-skid material to secure national highways and hazardous slopes.

The State Hydrometeorological Service forecasts light rain and fog throughout the day, with temperatures reaching highs of $+8°C$. However, overnight freezing and glaze ice remain significant risks for both commuters and utility providers.

Emergency contacts

The Ministry urges the public to report grid failures directly to the responsible operators:
