Olympic flame arrives in Alpine host city ahead of Winter Games opening

The Olympic flame reached Cortina d'Ampezzo on Tuesday, marking its arrival in one of the primary host venues for this year’s Winter Games. The torch arrived in the Alpine community of 6,000 residents exactly 70 years after the resort first hosted the Winter Olympics in 1956.

The flame is scheduled to reach Milan on February 5, just one day before the official opening ceremony. Originally lit in November at the ancient site of Olympia, the flame traveled through Greece before beginning its Italian journey on December 4.

Broadcast and competition schedule

The Winter Games will take place from February 6 to February 22. The competition will be broadcasted live and exclusively in the region by Moldova 1 and Moldova 2.

Athletes from across the globe are finalizing preparations as the flame completes its final stages. This historic return to the Italian Alps underscores the enduring legacy of the region's sporting tradition.
