Moldova has expanded its academic support for youth from the Transnistrian region. In 2025, a total of 856 students were integrated into state-funded programs on the right bank of the Dniester.

According to the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, 511 students enrolled in universities, while 345 chose vocational and technical education. This initiative aims to align regional youth with national and European standards.

Increased investment in human capital

The government has committed to higher spending for the 2026 academic year. The average investment for a university student will rise to €1,015 (approx. 19,900 MDL), up from €950 in 2025.

Funding is even more substantial for technical education. The state allocates €1,326 per student in professional schools and €1,658 (32,500 MDL) for those in centers of excellence.

Bridging the educational gap

Currently, 270 students are enrolled in a specialized "foundational bridging year." This program is designed for graduates of the Transnistrian 11-year system who require additional training.

This legal framework allows candidates to take national Baccalaureate exams. It ensures their studies are equivalent to national norms, facilitating full integration into higher education.

A gateway to international mobility

Chisinau’s efforts extend beyond the classroom to international recognition. Over the last eight years, authorities have apostilled more than 650 neutral-design diplomas for Transnistrian graduates.

These credentials have allowed students to pursue further education abroad. While integrating into Moldova is the primary goal, many graduates use these recognized degrees to study in Italy, the United States, Bulgaria, Israel, and Poland.
