Police launch forensic probe after skeletal remains found at residential site

Construction work at a home in Coșnița, Dubăsari, came to a sudden halt yesterday after workers unearthed human remains. The discovery was reported to the local authorities on January 28.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the remains were found approximately 50 to 60 centimeters below the surface during foundation excavations. Officers immediately secured the site to begin legal proceedings.

Forensic analysis to determine origin

The police have ordered a comprehensive forensic examination. This analysis aims to establish the exact cause of death and the time period the remains have been buried.

Initial reports from the local community suggest the site may have historical significance. Residents informed officers that the land might have previously served as a local graveyard.

Ongoing inquiry

Authorities are currently cross-referencing these historical accounts with the physical evidence found on-site. The investigation remains active as experts work to clarify whether the site holds archaeological or criminal relevance.
