Lozova Village Implements Solar Plant and Water Treatment via European Village
The commune of Lozova is rapidly evolving into a model of European rural development. Through the national "European Village" program, the locality has modernized its infrastructure with a new water treatment plant and a solar photovoltaic park.

These strategic investments, totaling millions of lei, mark a decisive shift toward sustainability. Lozova is now one of only five localities in Moldova to host an EU-funded solar park, a major step toward local energy independence.
The solar project, valued at approximately €627,500 (12.3M MDL), will significantly reduce municipal costs. According to Vice-Mayor Luiza Nicolaescu, the park will power public street lighting and government buildings while cutting CO2 emissions.
Beyond energy, the community has prioritized public health and environmental protection. New sewage systems and treatment facilities now prevent groundwater pollution, securing clean water for over 5,000 residents and 35 local businesses.
The infrastructure boom also includes extensive pedestrian walkways, improving safety for citizens who previously had to walk on main roads. Local residents report high levels of satisfaction with these tangible improvements to their daily lives.
Expansion plans are already in motion. Mayor Viorel Jardan confirmed that budget savings from current works will fund an additional 1.5 kilometers of water networks, eventually extending services to the neighboring villages of Dolna, Micleușeni, and Vorniceni.
