Grid remains stable despite winter weather and false claims

Moldovan authorities have officially debunked reports of planned nationwide electricity outages. The Ministry of Energy clarified that no power cuts were scheduled between 09:00 and 17:00, urging citizens to rely on official channels.

Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu addressed the situation, noting that false warnings of "massive blackouts" had been circulating in community messaging groups. He emphasized that such measures were never planned or foreseen by the state.

Operational status and weather response

Moldelectrica confirmed that the national transport grid remained fully operational overnight on February 6. Despite challenging weather conditions, the system is functioning according to planned parameters without major malfunctions.

In the central and southern regions, Premier Energy Distribution reported that 1,256 customers in the Stefan Voda district experienced service interruptions. A total of 17 intervention teams, including 85 electricians, were deployed to restore power.

Regional recovery efforts

In the north, operator RED-Nord reported unscheduled outages affecting 8,522 customers across two districts. By Friday morning, 28 localities in the Edinet, Briceni, Sangerei, Drochia, and Soroca districts remained partially affected.

Emergency teams are currently on the ground to reconnect these areas. Officials reiterate that these localized incidents are technical results of the weather, not the rumored nationwide shutdowns.
