Elite breeders from 17 nations compete for Central and Eastern European titles in Chisinau

Over 350 pedigree dogs competed this weekend in Chisinau for prestigious regional titles, including the "Best in Central and Eastern Europe" distinction. The event drew elite breeders from 17 countries to the Moldexpo Exhibition Center.

Visitors admired specimens valued at over €3,000 (approx. 58,500 MDL) each. Owners emphasized that while maintenance costs are substantial, the prestige of international recognition justifies the investment.

Mihai Miltei, a breeder from Edinet, presented Bruno, a two-year-old Caucasian Shepherd. Despite the challenge of managing the massive animal, Miltei described the breed as the most intelligent and loyal in the world.

International participants included Elena Dudina and Elena Taric from Lithuania, who arrived with nine dogs. They showcased breeds ranging from the Bernese Mountain Dog to the Sloughi, an ancient Arabian lineage.

"The Sloughi is an aboriginal breed with deep traditions; it doesn't require standard training, it simply reveals its natural elegance," explained Taric. The rigorous judging process included physical inspections of posture, temperament, and dental health.

Serghei Volynets, President of the Cynological Union of Moldova, framed the exhibition as both a high-level competition and an educational showcase. The program featured agility demonstrations and rescue dog presentations.

The competition concludes tomorrow at Moldexpo, where judges will announce the final winners and award the international titles.
