Canada announced new military support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia
The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced new military support for Ukraine and new sanctions against the authorities in Moscow. Canada has stood in solidarity with Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict and will remain so, the Canadian Prime Minister said during a briefing in Toronto.
"Canada is announcing new military support for our friends in Ukraine. We will deliver four more Leopard tanks to the armed forces of Ukraine. We are announcing new sanctions against 129 individuals and 63 entities in Russia, including Russian deputy prime ministers, ministers, members of the Russian president's office, the military, and those involved in the production of artillery and weapons used in the war in Ukraine," noted Justin Trudeau.
As for the four tanks announced at the end of January, they have arrived in Poland to be delivered to Kiev, the Prime Minister's Office stated in a statement. These new measures were revealed shortly after the United States announced, in coordination with the G7 countries, a new package of sanctions against Russia, exactly one year after the start of the invasion of Ukraine.
