Sângerei fire destroys outbuilding; owner hospitalized with head and chest burns

On the evening of February 16, a residential house on Stamatin Str. in the town of Sângerei caught fire. Several fire crews responded quickly to locate and extinguish the flames, as there was a risk of the fire spreading to nearby homes.
The town's mayor, Arcadie Covaliov, posted a video message on Facebook, highlighting the dangers posed by the flames to nearby homes. He assured the public that authorities are doing everything possible to limit damage and protect residences in the area.
“Take care, good people!” the mayor urged.
According to Liliana Pușcașu, a press officer at the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, rescuers located the fire at 7:31 PM.
“The auxiliary building (5x20 meters) burned completely, and the fire spread to the residential house (10x12 meters), where the contents of three rooms were entirely destroyed, resulting in a collapsed ceiling. The roof sustained 25% damage,” said Liliana Pușcașu.
As a result of the fire, the homeowner suffered burns and was transported to the hospital.
“The owner was taken by ambulance to the Sângerei District Hospital, Traumatology Department, with the diagnosis of thermal burns to the head, chest, and shoulders,” the IGSU representative reported.
During the intervention, firefighters prevented more serious consequences.
“Firefighters, during their reconnaissance, evacuated a minor child from the house along with two gas cylinders,” added Liliana Pușcașu.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by specialists.
