“Kuliok” case: Vladimir Plahotniuc forcibly brought and questioned at Supreme Court of Justice as witness

After several postponements and a refusal to voluntarily appear in court, Vladimir Plahotniuc was forcibly brought to the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) hearing on February 17 in the "kuliok" case, where he is a witness.

Vladimir Plahotniuc was called to testify in the trial of Igor Dodon, who is being prosecuted for passive corruption and for accepting illegal financing for the Socialist Party.

The decision to summon Plahotniuc was made on February 11 by the panel of judges, led by magistrate Stella Bleșceaga, after he failed to appear at the previous hearing. At that time, he declined voluntary escort, stating that he had another hearing scheduled in his own case and needed time to prepare.

The “kuliok” case is based on 2019 video recordings in which Plahotniuc is seen handing Dodon a black bag that the prosecution claims contained money. During the trial, witnesses mentioned amounts exceeding 500,000 euros or dollars.

We remind you that Plahotniuc, who is currently detained at Penitentiary No. 13 in Chisinau, is a defendant in several criminal cases, including a bank fraud case.

At today's ongoing hearing, Vladimir Plahotniuc is represented by his lawyer, Lucian Rogac.
