Remote work and online lessons: Measures announced by Prime Minister Munteanu for February 18

Authorities advise adjusting work schedules, promoting remote work, and holding online classes due to severe weather conditions expected on Wednesday, February 18, including heavy snowfall and blizzards.
According to a decision signed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu on February 17, local public authorities will assess the possibility of switching to distance learning on February 18. This decision will be based on an evaluation of the situation on the ground and in collaboration with the educational institutions they oversee.
Additionally, ministries, central administrative authorities, and other institutions will adjust their work schedules for this day, starting their activities at 09:00. This change aims to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours and minimize the risk of accidents.
The heads of institutions will also determine the end of the workday and whether certain categories of employees can work remotely, depending on their needs.
The document signed by the Prime Minister also states that the General Inspectorate for Emergencies and the National Army will offer support to local public authorities, as needed, in the most affected or hazardous areas. Their assistance will include ensuring access to critical infrastructure and protecting the population.
The main institutions responsible for managing the crisis will activate operational protocols and present their intervention plans.
"We urge you, dear citizens, to continue following updates from official sources and to take care of children, vulnerable individuals, and elderly neighbors", is the appeal made by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) has stated that each education department will determine the format for conducting lessons based on the specific circumstances in their locality, following an assessment of the local conditions. Additionally, education departments are encouraged to promptly inform parents and the school community about any changes to the organization of the educational process.
Meteorologists are forecasting heavy snowfall, blizzards, and ice, particularly in the southern part of the country, where an orange severe weather warning is in effect.
The central region is under a yellow warning, while the northern area faces a lower risk. Expect significant precipitation, increased winds, and challenging traffic conditions, with the potential for snowdrifts and ice.
This warning is valid on February 18, from 02:00 to 20:00.
