Romanian Health Caravan has reached Moldovan villages, where doctors will provide consultations in several localities

The Health Caravan, an initiative of the Romanian Red Cross, has arrived in the Republic of Moldova. On Wednesday, February 18, doctors from Romania provided consultations to residents in the village of Alexeevca in the Ungheni district. This service will be available for 10 months across various locations nationwide.

For two weeks, three mobile medical offices of the Romanian Red Cross have been stationed in the town of Alexeevca. They will travel to several communities in the Republic of Moldova this year to consult Moldovan patients.

In approximately 14 days, doctors from Romania collected samples, administered prescribed treatments, and checked people's eyesight.

These are important services for the people of Alexeevca, given that a family doctor visits the town only twice a week, and an oculist is only in the city of Ungheni, the only one for the entire district.

It is also an opportunity for the people of Alexeevca to consult a doctor on the spot, free of charge.

The optimism and professionalism of Romanian doctors have encouraged people to view their own health care with new eyes.

Romanian doctors will consult communities in various regions of the country until autumn, as part of a cross-border project of the Red Cross, the Republic of Moldova-Romania branch.

In the near future, doctors from Romania will go to the village of Ișcălău in the Fălești district.

The Health Caravan is a project of the Romanian Red Cross that was born of a real need among communities living in the countryside, who face limited access to basic medical services.

The caravan debuted in February 2022 as the Caravan of Goodness and, from 2023, was renamed the Caravan of Health.
