"There is no other people who want peace more than Ukrainians": Ambassador Paun Rohovei, exclusive interview with Moldova 1 TV

Ukrainians are "ready to achieve peace." The initial points that should be addressed in the ongoing peace negotiations with the Russian Federation and the United States include a "complete ceasefire," followed by security guarantees for Ukraine.

In an exclusive interview with the public television station Moldova 1, on the fourth anniversary of the Russian Federation's outbreak of war in the neighboring state, the Ukrainian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Paun Rohovei, stated that several essential steps are necessary to achieve peace.

"The first step we want to achieve in these negotiations is a ceasefire. Not a truce, but a complete ceasefire both on the front line, in the air, on the water, and in the attacks on major cities in Ukraine. This will allow us to create the conditions for sitting down at the negotiating table to negotiate peace, without preconditions. (...) The second moment that interests us very much is security guarantees. After the ceasefire is stopped and the long-awaited peace is achieved, Ukraine needs security, because Russia has not been, is not and will never be a credible partner. Therefore, we need some stable, well-defined guarantees, security guarantees for Ukraine," the diplomat said on the "Dimensiunea Diplomatica" show on the public television channel.

The Ukrainian diplomat expressed his hope that, on Ukrainian territory, "international peacekeeping troops will be deployed for a first stage." The full interview with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Chisinau, Paun Rohovei, will be broadcast on Sunday, February 22, at 8:00 p.m., on Moldova 1 and can be watched on YouTube of the public television station.
