37-year-old man sentenced to 20 years in prison after killing a woman in Anenii Noi
He forced his way into a resident's home, intending to rob her, killing the woman who resisted. However, the thief did not find any money in her home.
A 37-year-old man from the Anenii Noi district was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of murder for material gain, a crime committed in 2025.
According to the Causeni Prosecutor's Office, the defendant believed that the victim, a woman from the same locality who lived alone, had money. He illegally entered her home by damaging the door window and unlocking it from the inside. When the victim tried to resist, the defendant inflicted multiple blows on her and subsequently strangled her.
After searching the house and finding no money, the defendant left the crime scene.
In court, the defendant denied his guilt and refused to make any statements. Later, during the verbal statements phase, he claimed that he did not know the victim and was unaware of where she lived. However, the evidence presented by law enforcement officers was crucial for the judges.
This was not the defendant's first offense, and the sentence in this case is not yet final.
