Imported batch of biscuits deemed unsafe destroyed by ANSA inspectors

Half a ton of imported biscuits was withdrawn and destroyed by ANSA inspectors after lab tests showed trans fat levels exceeding the legal limit, posing a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

ANSA inspectors ordered the withdrawal of the entire 519.6 kg batch to eliminate any potential risk to consumer health.

The recalled batch was destroyed under the supervision of the food safety authority.

The importer was fined and required to implement a corrective action plan, which ANSA will monitor.

In 2026, ANSA plans to test and analyze 50 samples for trans fat content as part of its monitoring program for the safety and quality of non-animal food products.
