Moldova issues urgent travel warning as Israel shuts airspace and enforces military-grade restrictions

Israel enters a nationwide state of emergency effective Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 08:00 AM, following the escalation of military operations against Iran. The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and Ambassador Alex Roitman have confirmed the total suspension of non-essential activities across the country.

The closure includes Ben Gurion International Airport, with all civilian airspace currently restricted. These emergency measures are slated to remain in effect until Monday, March 2, 2026, at 08:00 PM, though authorities warn of potential extensions depending on the security environment.

Safety protocols for citizens

Ambassador Alex Roitman has urged all Moldovan nationals currently in Israel to strictly adhere to the instructions issued by the Home Front Command. Residents must remain in immediate proximity to rocket shelters and avoid all non-essential travel.

"We are monitoring the situation in real-time," stated Roitman. "The safety of our citizens is paramount, and we advise everyone to stay informed through official channels as the situation evolves."
