Two-thirds of Russians want peace negotiations with Ukraine to begin

According to a poll by the Levada Center, a record number of people in Russia support negotiations with Ukraine, against which the Russian Federation has been waging a large-scale war for five years, DW reports.
Sixty-seven percent of Russians believe that peace negotiations should begin, marking an increase of six percentage points in just one month. At the same time, the percentage of those who support continuing military actions has dropped to its lowest level ever recorded, now at 24%, according to the organization.
Sociologists also discovered that support for negotiations is notably higher among women, young people under 25, rural residents, and those who obtain their information from social networks.
Conversely, the group favoring the continuation of the war is primarily composed of men, individuals over 55, higher-income respondents, Moscow residents, and those who rely on pro-Russian television and video platforms for their information.
The survey was conducted at the end of February with a representative sample of the urban and rural population. A total of 1,625 people from 137 localities across the Russian Federation participated in the research, according to DW.
