Termoelectrica makes first gas deal on Romanian Commodity Exchange

The natural gas required for April was acquired by Termoelectrica through the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM EST Moldova). The transaction occurred during a trading session on the exchange's OTC platform.

The company stated that the procurement process was completed in accordance with the published tender documentation and the trading platform's rules. This process involved the company's affiliation with the platform, publication of the documentation, a clarification period for participants, verification of eligibility conditions, and the conduct of the electronic trading session.

In the upcoming period, "Termoelectrica" will proceed with the post-transaction steps outlined in the platform's procedures. This includes formalizing the contractual relationship with the supplier and initiating the necessary procedures to ensure gas supplies starting April 1.

The procurement was conducted in the context of the gradual liberalization of the natural gas market. Large non-household consumers are now required to purchase gas at market prices under current legislation and ANRE decisions regarding the gradual reduction of access to supply under the public service obligation regime.

Additionally, company representatives encourage more licensed suppliers to participate in future procurement procedures, stating that increased competition directly contributes to securing the most competitive prices and enhancing the predictability of supply during the consumption period.
