Tactical stalemate at Orhei leaves Zimbru Chisinau level at the top

The second phase of the Moldovan Super Liga commenced with a high-stakes encounter in Orhei, where local side Milsami hosted Zimbru Chisinau. Despite a fiercely contested battle, the match ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

Zimbru, known as "The Yellow-Greens," squandered a definitive opportunity in the 21st minute. Belarusian forward Denis Kazlouski failed to capitalize on a defensive lapse by Belgian defender Danny Lupano, firing his effort directly at Bosnian goalkeeper Filip Dujmovic.

Milsami, nicknamed "The Red Eagles," responded through 19-year-old Nigerian talent Philip Odubia. However, the youngster blasted his attempt over the crossbar from ten meters out.

The hosts threatened again just before the interval when Lupano’s header was parried by Ukrainian goalkeeper Artiom Odintsov. Andrei Cobet’s follow-up strike lacked the necessary precision to break the deadlock.

The second half remained a physical contest with limited clear-cut chances for either side. Following the draw, Zimbru Chisinau remained in second place with 15 points, level with leaders Petrocub Hancesti.

Milsami Orhei occupies the fourth position with 11 points, tied with reigning champions Sheriff Tiraspol. The opening round of the play-offs continues today, Sunday, March 8.

At 15:00, Petrocub Hancesti hosts Dacia-Buiucani Chisinau. Later this evening, at 18:00, CSF Balti will face Sheriff Tiraspol on home soil.
