MFA: Drone over Moldova is a “serious violation of sovereignty”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the overflight of a Shahed drone in the Republic of Moldova's airspace on the morning of March 14, near the town of Troitcoe in the Cimislia region.

In a statement, the Chisinau diplomacy classified the incident as a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

"The Republic of Moldova firmly condemns these actions and denounces the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which inflicts suffering, loss, and destruction on Ukraine and poses a significant threat to regional security, directly endangering the safety of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova," noted the source.

In this context, Chisinau reaffirms its commitment to strengthening peace and national security. It announces that it will continue to take necessary steps, in cooperation with the relevant national institutions and international partners, to protect its territory and population.

We remind you that the authorities previously announced that, on the night of March 14, an aerial object, possibly a Shahed drone, flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova without authorization. We communicated this information to the Ukrainian authorities, but they did not confirm the detection of the aerial object. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian side reported that the drone had vanished from radar screens in the Republic of Moldova, specifically in the Cimislia region, near the town of Troitskoe.
