Dorin Recean: Romania and Moldova's financial markets will soon be integrated
The capital market in Bucharest will become accessible also in the Republic of Moldova, Prime Minister Dorin Recean told a joint press conference with his Romanian counterpart in Bucharest today. He encouraged businessmen from both sides of the Prut to develop and expand their businesses.
"Chisinau provides more and more opportunities for business. In this regard, I come with a message for businessmen from both sides of the Prut, whom I want to encourage to expand their businesses and use the existing and future economic potential. We will soon even have integrated financial markets and, accordingly, the Bucharest Capital Market will be accessible from Chisinau. Our business people speak the same language, our businesses speak the same language. And by transposing European legislation, the banks of the Prut become even closer for business," Recean said.
PM Dorin Recean noted that during the meetings of the delegations of the two countries it was decided to organise the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation and business forums. "I discussed with Prime Minister Ciucă the development of the strategic partnership in the energy sector. Our aim is to attract investments from Romanian companies in the energy sector of the Republic of Moldova. Discussions have started on facilitating the conclusion of long-term contracts for the purchase of electricity and natural gas with companies in the Romanian energy sector, with the aim of diversifying sources and increasing the energy security of the Republic of Moldova", said Dorin Recean.
Moldovan Prime Minister thanked Romania for its support last autumn, when the Republic of Moldova was facing an electricity shortage, noting that Romania's support was "critical" and "decisive". "Bucharest, together with the Romanian energy companies, stood by us, as always, and we managed to provide our citizens with electricity," Dorin Recean said.
