Parliament acknowledges Nicolae Botgros’ resignation; Silvia Bondarenco may replace him

The Parliament has acknowledged the resignation of Deputy of Parliament Nicolae Botgros, who was elected on the list of the Political Party "Action and Solidarity" (PAS). A draft resolution to this effect was passed by 59 deputies during the meeting on March 26. According to the PAS electoral list, the seat left vacant by the deputy's resignation may be filled by Silvia Bondarenco, a mathematics and physics teacher and head of the Evidence Office No. 5 within the Public Services Agency.
Nicolae Botgros has submitted his resignation, effective March 27. At 72 years old, he became a deputy following the 2025 parliamentary elections, in which he was placed 11th on the PAS list.
His entry into the Legislature was viewed as a significant contribution from a prominent cultural personality. At that time, Botgros expressed his desire to support the cultural sector, which he believed was facing challenges. In Parliament, he served on the Committee for Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports, and Mass Media.
During his term, he participated in plenary sessions and key votes, including the adoption of the 2026 state budget. However, in recent weeks, he has indicated that he is not fully engaged in parliamentary activities. Botgros recently stated that the stage is more appealing to him than the legislative tribune and hinted that he might resign from his mandate.
We remind you that Nicolae Botgros is the 14th PAS MP to resign in the current legislature. Several MPs elected on the party's list have resigned to take on other roles within the government or public institutions, or to return to their previous professional activities. Recently, MP Anastasia Nichita also resigned, and Tatiana Rotari has taken over her position.
