One dead as Russian drone hits Odesa maternity ward

Russian forces launched two waves of drone attacks on Odessa and a massive strike on Kryvyi Rih overnight, killing at least three people and wounding several others, local authorities reported on Saturday, March 28.

In Odesa, a Russian drone struck the roof of a maternity hospital in the Primorski district. Serhiy Lysak, head of the regional military administration, confirmed on Telegram that staff and patients reached safety in shelters before rescuers evacuated the facility. One person later died in the hospital from injuries sustained during the attack.
The strikes caused significant damage to a residential building in the same district, where the blast wave shattered windows in surrounding structures. Three educational institutions and a residential block in the Hadjibei district also sustained damage. A fire broke out in a private housing sector following the impact.

Separately, Russian troops targeted an industrial enterprise in Kryvyi Rih with a massive drone swarm. Two people died and two others were wounded in the attack, according to Ukrainian officials.

"The rescue operation is ongoing, and authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage," said Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council. Emergency teams continue to clear debris at the sites of previous strikes in the city.
