Medical insurance discounted until March 31: National Health Insurance Company of Moldova warns—daily penalties start April 1

Individuals looking to purchase health insurance on their own have a limited time to take advantage of discounts of up to 80%. These offers will be available only until March 31. According to official data, approximately 107,000 people have paid a fixed health insurance premium since the beginning of the year, which represents an increase of around 3,000 compared to the same period last year.
More than 106,000 taxpayers benefited from the 80% reduction and paid 2,527 lei. Also, about 900 people paid the full premium, 12,636 lei.
"Until March 31, all persons who are not yet insured, neither by the government nor as employed insured persons, agricultural land owners, individuals engaged in trade, founders of individual enterprises and founders of peasant households, can benefit from the reduction. Likewise, all foreign citizens who are on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and have a temporary or permanent residence permit can benefit from the reduction," said Tatiana Rotaru, deputy head of the Beneficiary Relations Department at the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM).
"They can still go, benefit from the discount period until March 31 and purchase this medical insurance, because after all, they are insuring themselves against a risk in the event of a possible illness, disease, condition or worsening of their health. They can go to any post office or any commercial bank to pay for their medical insurance. Those who have access to the internet can do this by accessing the Mpay service", the specialist urged.
The specialist mentioned that people who do not buy their policy within the established deadline risk, starting April 1, paying for their medical insurance at a price of 12,636 lei, about five times higher than the payment that can be made at the moment, of 2,527 lei, plus a penalty for each day of delay is added to the 12,636 lei.
According to the CNAM representative, any insured person can benefit from a wide range of medical services: "Starting with the services offered by the family doctor, consultations with specialist doctors, devices and medicines compensated under medical insurance, various investigations and laboratory tests. High-performance services are included, such as magnetic resonance, ultrasound, computed tomography, hospital medical care, expensive surgeries, cataract surgeries, hip and knee replacements, palliative medical care, but also home medical care".
Any individual who pays their medical insurance benefits from the date of payment until January 31 of the following management year.
"Therefore, CNAM has always urged all people to pay their medical insurance earlier, starting with January, so that they can benefit from the status of an insured person for as long as possible", said Tatiana Rotaru, on Radio Moldova.
Every citizen can check whether they are insured or not: "They can go to the CNAM.md website, there is the services section and there any person, by indicating their personal data, can check their status as an insured or uninsured person. Likewise, this data can also be viewed in their personal cabinet. They can call the INFO CNAM line - the information line, and request a status check".
People who are employed do not pay health insurance in a fixed amount, but they pay health insurance as a percentage of their salary, which is 9%, as well as people insured by the government.
