Maia Sandu will address Latvian Parliament and discuss regional security with Finland officials

President Maia Sandu will visit Finland and Latvia from March 31 to April 1. This diplomatic tour aims to enhance bilateral cooperation, tackle regional security challenges, and advance Moldova's European Union (EU) accession process.

The working visit will begin in Helsinki, where the head of state will hold an official meeting with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb. This will be followed by a joint press conference to address common priorities on the European agenda.

During the visit, the president will also engage in discussions with government officials and representatives of Finnish civil society, highlighting the importance of a resilient partnership in the current geopolitical context.

On April 1, Maia Sandu will then travel to Riga for an official visit at the invitation of the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs. The agenda in Riga includes meetings with her Latvian counterpart, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, and members of the Latvian Parliament's leadership. Maia Sandu is scheduled to deliver a speech during a plenary session of the Latvian legislature, reaffirming Latvia's firm support for Chisinau’s democratic and European aspirations.

We remind you that Maia Sandu recently visited Vilnius, Lithuania, on March 10 and 11, where she was invited by President Gitanas Nausėda to commemorate the 36th anniversary of Lithuania's independence. Throughout her meetings with top leaders, she delivered a symbolic speech in the plenary session of the Lithuanian Parliament, emphasizing that Moldova was the first country to recognize Lithuania's independence in 1990. The dialogue during this visit focused on regional security, the acceleration of Moldova's accession to the European Union, and the announcement of a new direct air route between Chisinau and Vilnius, starting in May.

Moreover, on March 26, Maia Sandu made a historic visit to Bratislava, marking the first official visit of a Moldovan president to the Slovak Republic. During this visit, agreements were signed on social protection and economic cooperation.
