Mayor's offices in the Republic of Moldova can access grants of up to $60,000 for sustainable development projects and enhancing local governance.

The funds are allocated through the “Mayors for Economic Growth” network, supported by the European Union and implemented by UNDP.

This program aims to enhance economic resilience and provides support in two stages: initiation and growth. Communities are required to contribute at least 10% of the project costs.

Assistance will be provided as follows: during the initiation phase, up to $20,000 will be granted, and during the growth phase, up to $40,000 will be available.

The funds can be used for various purposes, including modernising infrastructure, digitising services, and strengthening institutional capacity. Project selection will prioritise innovation and sustainable impact.

Applications must be submitted by April 17, 2026. Mayors will also receive advice and technical expertise to help align local strategies with European standards.

In total, eight local communities from the Republic of Moldova, Armenia, and Ukraine will benefit from technical assistance and funding of up to $60,000 each.

This program has been active since 2017 and promotes good practices and resources to foster a more resilient local economy.
