Pro-European PAS begins strategic vetting of cabinet members for 2027 Chisinau election

The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) is currently evaluating several high-profile candidates for the position of General Mayor of Chisinau. Vice President Dan Perciun confirmed that the internal shortlist includes Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Bolea and Minister of Environment Gheorghe Hajder.
While a final decision has not yet been reached, the party is prioritizing candidates based on their ability to address the capital's structural crises. Perciun emphasized that the nominee must align with voter expectations regarding chronic gridlock, systemic infrastructure deficits, and strained school capacities.
This early strategic positioning followed the 2023 local elections, where the incumbent Ion Ceban secured a second term with over 50% of the vote. The PAS-backed candidate, Lilian Carp, finished second with approximately 28% of the ballots.
The upcoming 2027 local elections are expected to be a pivotal moment for Moldova’s political landscape. The contest may be conducted under a new administrative-territorial structure, a reform likely to reshape party strategies and local governance authority.
