Financial support for unemployed taking jobs outside their locality

Unemployed individuals who secure a job outside of their place of residence will receive a monthly transportation allowance exceeding 2,500 lei for a period of six months, starting in 2026. This announcement was made by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Natalia Plugaru.
The support is aimed at individuals registered with the National Employment Agency who have secured a job under an employment contract lasting at least six months, including part-time positions.
"There are jobs available, but they are not always located where we live. This is why we have implemented a measure to help people find employment in other areas. It is designed to encourage labor mobility. Our goal is to bridge the gap between job opportunities and job seekers," the minister stated in the "Pe Scurt" column.
According to the ministry, over 200 individuals benefited from this initiative last year, with the most common commuting routes connecting the districts of Cimișlia, Anenii Noi, Strașeni, and Ialoveni.
"Through this measure, we are helping people move to where jobs are available and encouraging them to build their professional futures at home," Plugaru emphasized.
Data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection indicates that since January, a total of 5,083 people have found employment, including 1,276 who were previously unemployed.
The authorities aim to support the employment of 25,000 individuals by the end of 2026. Last year, more than 20,000 people were placed in jobs through the National Employment Agency (ANOFM), marking an increase of approximately 20% compared to 2024.
