Government approves new ambassadors to Japan and Kazakhstan: “We will strengthen ties and promote Moldova’s interests”
Sergiu Mihov will serve as Moldova’s ambassador to Japan, and Igor Moldovan will lead the diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan. The government approved both appointments, with the process set to conclude after the president signs the decrees.
At the April 15 government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi said the experience and dedication of the two ambassadors will strengthen bilateral ties with Japan and Kazakhstan and advance Moldova’s interests abroad.
“We firmly trust that, through the experience, dedication, and professionalism of Their Excellencies, these two diplomatic missions will continue to deliver results for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” Mihai Popșoi stressed.
Sergiu Mihov holds the rank of ambassador and brings over 27 years of experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has worked in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including at Moldova’s Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe.
He currently serves as State Secretary at the Ministry and previously served as Moldova’s ambassador to Lithuania.
Igor Moldovan has over 20 years of experience in diplomacy and law. He currently leads the International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance Section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He previously served as deputy head of mission at Moldova’s embassies in Israel and Ireland, as well as at the Permanent Representation to the UN Office in Geneva.
At the same meeting, the cabinet approved Ion Revenco’s appointment as deputy head of the Ungheni Territorial Office of the State Chancellery, effective May 4.
