Moldova boosts foreign ties through Mihai Popșoi’s high-level meetings in Antalya

Mihai Popșoi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, held a series of bilateral meetings in Antalya during the Diplomatic Forum. He met with his counterparts from Ukraine and Montenegro, as well as officials from the German state of Hessen. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, supporting the Republic of Moldova's European integration, and enhancing economic and sectoral relations with international partners.
During the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi held multiple bilateral meetings to enhance political dialogue and promote international cooperation for the Republic of Moldova, as stated in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In discussions with the Ukrainian side, the focus was on the common European path and the security challenges facing the region. During a meeting with Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, the conversation highlighted the European integration efforts of both countries, the security situation in the context of the Russian Federation's war of aggression, and the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy expressed gratitude for the effective collaboration with Ukrainian authorities in addressing pollution of the Nistru caused by strikes on the Novodnestrovsk Hydropower Complex.
Additionally, the prompt intervention to repair the Isaccea-Vulcănești overhead power line, damaged by Russian attacks, was also appreciated.

The dialogue with Ervin Ibrahimović, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, offered an opportunity to share best practices regarding the European Union accession process.
The participants also discussed ways to enhance trade and sectoral relations, particularly in tourism. In this context, Minister Ibrahimović suggested organizing political consultations to address topics of mutual interest on the bilateral agenda.

During a meeting with the German official, the discussion focused on the potential for regional partnerships.
The meeting included Manfred Pentz, the Minister for Federal, European, International and Bureaucratization Affairs of the State of Hessen, Germany. They explored opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation and capitalize on regional partnerships.
It was highlighted that Germany is one of the Republic of Moldova's main trading partners, and there is a shared interest in expanding collaboration with the German states.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi expressed gratitude for the support provided in the development of Moldova, as well as for the assistance given to Moldovan citizens living in Germany.
The Antalya Diplomatic Forum, now in its fifth edition, is scheduled to take place from April 17 to 19, 2026, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. This event will bring together participants from 155 countries, including political leaders, diplomats, experts, and representatives of academia and civil society. It is regarded as one of the most significant international platforms for dialogue on foreign policy and security.
