Kyiv’s defense advisor Beskrestnov injured as jet-drone levels residence

Serghei Beskrestnov, a high-ranking advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and a prominent technology expert, was injured after a direct drone strike destroyed his home during a massive Russian offensive on April 20.

Beskrestnov, widely known for his expertise in radio technology and electronic warfare, is currently hospitalized. He confirmed on social media that his residence was targeted by multiple jet-powered Shahed drones, one of which struck the building directly.

Miraculous survival amidst ruins

"Last night, they tried to kill me," Beskrestnov stated. He detailed that four reactive drones were launched specifically at his location, adding that he is only alive through what he described as a miracle.

Despite the total destruction of his home, the official noted he was psychologically prepared for such an escalation. He remains defiant, stating that the assassination attempt will not halt his strategic activities for the ministry.

Escalation of drone warfare

The attack on the advisor occurred during a wider overnight wave where Russian forces deployed 142 aerial vehicles, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas models. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 113 of these threats across the country.

Official reports indicate 28 confirmed strikes across 18 locations, resulting in significant infrastructure damage. In the Brovary district alone, a 52-year-old civilian was also reported injured as debris fell on residential areas.
