Vitalie Marinuta: This year will be a challenging one, both for Ukraine and for the world community
Former Defence Minister Vitalie Marinuta said in an interview with Radio Moldova that this year will be a complicated one for both Ukraine and the international community, as there are no visible actions for negotiations between the two sides in the near future.
"The war, in my view, will continue. Now. Analyzing the situation, I can't say that we will have victory one way or the other, either the Russians will advance or Ukraine might go on the counteroffensive. I don't see the opposing sides coming to the negotiating table in the near future. I very much hope that I will have the opportunity for Ukraine and the international community to demonstrate that Russia is an invading country and put it to rest, once and for all. This is the only way we will be able to have peace in Europe in the future," Marinuta said.
Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoană declared that the war in Ukraine would increase in intensity in the coming months. He told a Prima TV programme in Romania that there are currently no political conditions for reaching the negotiating table in the armed conflict triggered by Russia and that the next few months may give a certain direction for its future.
