Candidate countries must be able to access European funds and access the European market progressively
When the Republic of Moldova meets the nine conditions of the European Union, the European Parliament will have all the arguments to insist on starting accession negotiations on each chapter - MEP Dacian Ciolos told Radio Moldova.

The official said that as the Republic of Moldova meets all the conditions, EU Member States will provide more funding to our country for the implementation of various projects.
"The candidate countries must already be able to integrate European policies, have access to European funds, and have access to the European market progressively. We should not wait for the completion of all the negotiations and the signing of the accession treaty so that the Republic of Moldova has access, for example, to the common agricultural policy, to the cohesion policy, to the free movement of persons, capital and services. These freedoms, as we call them, the four European freedoms - the free movement of services, capital, persons and goods - should therefore be able to be achieved as the negotiating chapters close. That is why it is also in Moldova's interest to organise itself as well as possible so that it can align its legislation and institutions and then benefit from the rapprochement with the EU and integration", said Dacian Ciolos.
The Republic of Moldova was granted the status of candidate country to the European Union on 23 June 2022.
