Victor Parlicov: The Republic of Moldova could become a testing ground for clean technology innovations in the Central and Eastern European region
"Greening" the economy will open doors for "climate-conscious" capital, and the Republic of Moldova would become a testing ground for clean technology innovations in the Central and Eastern European region, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov wrote on his Facebook page on the occasion of World Energy Efficiency Day, marked today.
Victor Parlicov said that Moldova wanted to become the first climate-neutral developing country. To this end, the authorities aim to accelerate the decarbonisation of the economy ahead of the European Union's target.
According to Victor Parlicov, we already have the support of the United States to include the Republic of Moldova in the "Net Zero World" initiative, which will give us access to technological cooperation and funding from various American institutions.
The Minister added that several major energy efficiency projects were already underway, including a project to make energy consumption in 10 medical institutions more efficient, a project to improve the efficiency of the central heating supply system in Chisinau, optimising the generation of heat and electricity and investing in energy efficiency.
Another project involves the replacement of the Soviet vertical systems of heat distribution in blocks with horizontal systems and the installation of individual heating points.
