Chisinau hosts 27th International Children's Book Fair
The 27th edition of the International Children’s and Youth Book Fair opened at the Moldexpo Center in Chisinau. Running from April 23 to 26, the event showcases the latest editorial releases, offering substantial discounts and interactive cultural programs.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the fair expects 10,000 visitors who will each receive a free "surprise book." This year’s gifted title is "The Book-Shaped Castle" by Arcadie Suceveanu, which explores the artistic metamorphosis of literature.
Strategic investment in education
The Moldovan government has prioritized the event as a pillar for national literacy. The Ministry of Education and Research announced a project valued at €357,000 (approx. 7M MDL).
From this budget, approximately €331,600 (approx. 6.5M MDL) is dedicated to purchasing 60 new titles for school libraries across the republic. This ensures that the fair's impact extends far beyond the four-day event.

A hub for regional literature
Prominent authors and international guests highlighted the fair's unique status. Writer Petre Crăciun noted the event’s prestige, remarking that it offers a rare opportunity for children to engage directly with creators.
Interactive sessions like "Storytelling Hour" and the "Windows" exhibition, inspired by Sergiu Afanasiu’s work, have turned the venue into a vibrant creative space. New collections, including sound books translated from French, were also introduced to engage the youngest audience members.
The International Children’s and Youth Book Fair will conclude this Sunday with the official Awards Gala.
