State Flag Day marked in the Republic of Moldova: “The color symbolizing our aspiration for freedom”

On April 27, a solemn ceremony commemorating the Day of the State Flag was held in front of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. Representatives from both the legislative and executive branches participated in the event.
National Flag Day is celebrated across the country, with the tricolor flag being flown at state institutions in every locality.
"The national flag is a symbol that unites us as a nation and reminds us of the journey we have taken towards freedom, independence, and our place in the world. Honoring the national flag means acknowledging our past and respecting our history. It represents our aspiration for freedom. These three colors tell our story—a story that we continue to write every day," said Igor Grosu, Parliament Speaker.
The Republic of Moldova is marking 36 years since the adoption of the tricolor as the National Flag—a symbol of sovereignty, independence, and national identity. The tricolor was first designated as the symbol of the country on April 27, 1990, by the deputies of the first legislature. The State Flag Day was established by the Parliament in Chisinau in 2010.
The state flag symbolizes the past, present, and future of the country, reflecting the democratic principles, historical tradition, equal rights, friendship, and solidarity of the people of the Republic of Moldova.
