Ismail Bridge rehabilitation is nearing tender stage

The bridge on Ismail str. in Chisinau is in a significant state of disrepair and will undergo complete repairs. However, the municipal authorities are currently unable to provide a timeline for when the work will begin. According to City Hall officials, the project is in the final stages of preparing the technical documentation.

During the operational meeting of the municipal services on May 4, the deputy mayor of the capital, Ilie Ceban, stated, "When all the documents are prepared and verified, we will be ready to launch the tender."

The proposed plan includes a complete rehabilitation of the bridge.

"The full repair of the bridge is planned in accordance with the project documentation," emphasized the general mayor, Ion Ceban. He noted that additional details will be shared once all necessary permits are obtained.

The costs for repairing the bridge will be disclosed after the work begins. "When the works start, the city hall will provide exact information about the sources of financing. We are relying on funds from the budget," Ion Ceban added.

Currently, the bridge is secure, and the authorities assure citizens that there are no risks.

The bridge on Ismail str. was constructed in 1968 and has never undergone a complete repair. Currently, its structure shows visible cracks, concrete deterioration, and issues with the waterproofing system.

The situation became critical last summer when a section of the bridge came loose and fell just a few meters in front of a moving car. Fortunately, the driver was able to stop in time, avoiding a potential serious accident.

At that time, representatives from the Chisinau City Hall announced that the rehabilitation project was in the technical expertise stage. They stated that the permitted interventions were only intended to preserve the structure and ensure safety.
