Europe Day brings the European Town back to central Chișinău with music, food, and activities for all ages

The Republic of Moldova will celebrate Europe Day with a comprehensive program in the Great National Assembly Square in Chișinău, where a “European Town” will be created. The event, scheduled for May 9, will feature the embassies of European Union member states, EU-funded projects, interactive activities for all ages, and a concert dedicated to Europe Day. The program will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 11:00 PM, highlighting performances by popular artists from the Republic of Moldova.

According to the program published by the European Union Representation in the Republic of Moldova, the Official Opening of the European Town in Chisinau is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Ten minutes later, the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, the Prime Minister, Alexandru Munteanu, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Chisinau, Ivona Piórko, will deliver official speeches.
From 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be a "Tour of the European Town," during which the Ambassador of the European Union and the leadership of the Republic of Moldova will visit the stands representing EU member states, as well as projects financed by the European Union and various state institutions.
Throughout the day, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to participate in activities organized as part of the Interactive Fair dedicated to the European Town in Chisinau. The program includes the Team Europe Alley, where EU member states will showcase their support for the Republic of Moldova, and the EU Solidarity in Action Alley, which focuses on projects funded by the European Union.

The Government and Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will host a series of interactive activities and presentations centered around the country's European path within the "European Moldova" space. The program will include a children's pavilion and a designated area for public interaction.
Several thematic sessions and cultural activities are planned for the event. Starting at 1:15 p.m., the "Youth Club" will offer an interactive session focused on active youth involvement and positive masculinity, organized as part of the "EU for Gender Equality" project.
Later, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an activity titled "The Price of a Smile," featuring the writer Ionela Hadârcă, who will give each participant a signed book as a gift. The program will continue with "Inspiring Stories," a live segment dedicated to female voices that inspire change, focusing on themes of resilience, inclusion, and advocacy.
The Council of Europe will also facilitate an intellectual game for the public called "What? Where? When?" scheduled from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
In addition to these interactive activities, the organizers will offer "activities for seniors," which will feature music and dance. There will also be gastronomic areas showcasing dishes from EU member states, a photo zone dedicated to Europe Day, and artistic performances by musicians and dancers from EU countries.

The day will conclude with a concert for Europe Day 2026: "Europe is YOU!", set to take place from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Artists Gabriel Nebunu, LUPII lui Calancea, Minelli, and Alternosfera will perform.
