Maia Sandu: "We have been trying to build democracy in the Republic of Moldova for a long time and I think there are things we can be proud of"
The women of the Republic of Moldova, including those in politics, have a lot of courage and have demonstrated it repeatedly, even in the most difficult situations, said during the public event "Moldova's accession to the European Union: a discussion with women ministers from the EU ", the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
According to the head of state, a recent success of our country in terms of gender equality is the representation of women in high management positions. "With the support of our friends from the institutions of the European Union, we will manage to put Moldova under shelter, if I may say so, because the European Union is primarily a project of peace, a project of democracy, of prosperity. We have been trying to build democracy in the Republic of Moldova for a long time and I think there are things we can be proud of, in spite of difficulties , we managed to fight for democracy. Every time we managed to change power peacefully, in elections. Sometimes more correct, other times obviously with certain deficiencies, but we did not allow authoritarian regimes or those who wanted to become authoritarian. We had enough courage to fight against corrupt regimes", declared Maia Sandu. President Maia Sandu also referred to the role of women in the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova. We remind that eight Ministers of Foreign Affairs from EU countries met today in Chisinau. During the opening session of the meeting, they discussed the role of women in politics, as well as in legislative and governmental activities. Later, they participated in the public event "Moldova's accession to the EU: a discussion with women ministers from the EU".
