Families raising children with disabilities to receive 3,000 lei support

Families caring for children with disabilities will receive a one-time allowance of 3,000 lei in June. More than 13,500 children will benefit from this aid, according to a draft law approved by the Government on Wednesday.
In a government program, we committed to expanding support for families with disabled children within the social chapter by establishing a single payment. I am very pleased that in our first year in government, we have successfully implemented this commitment," stated Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Natalia Plugaru, during a meeting on May 20.
To simplify the process of disbursing these funds, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will introduce an automated payment mechanism, eliminating the need for parents to submit applications or travel to relevant institutions.
"The goal of this project is to enhance social protection for families caring for children with disabilities—whether severe, pronounced, or moderate—by compensating for the additional costs associated with care, rehabilitation, mobility, and social integration, which can be quite substantial," added the Minister.
Currently, individuals with disabilities up to the age of 23 receive a monthly allowance of 2,448 lei. Moreover, caregivers of children with severe disabilities are eligible for care allowances exceeding 2,600 lei per month.
This legislative initiative was announced on May 6 by MP Ludmila Adamciuc and Minister Natalia Plugaru.
