EU Security and Management Hub operational results to be assessed in Brussels

The EU Security Hub for Internal Security and Border Management's operational results will be assessed tomorrow in Brussels, Belgium, in the context of the meeting of the EU Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council.

The Republic of Moldova is one of the countries most affected by the war in Ukraine. Since Russia's unjustified aggression against its neighbouring country and the internal security of the Republic of Moldova, our country is constantly threatened by a number of manifestations of cross-border crime, such as illegal migration, trafficking in human beings and arms, cybercrime, hybrid dangers.

The European Union has consistently shown its full solidarity with the Republic of Moldova and its commitment to support its critical needs, says the Interior Ministry in Chisinau. The establishment of the Security Hub in July 2022 brings cooperation between law enforcement agencies in our country and those in the EU community to a new level, according to the source.

At the fifth meeting of the EU Security Hub, the results achieved by the Security Hub in its first six months of operation will be discussed. It will be co-chaired by the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, and the Moldovan Minister of Internal Affairs, Ana Revenco.

The technical meeting of the Hub will be attended for the first time by the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and the representative of the rotating EU Council Presidency, Swedish State Secretary Charlotte Kugelberg. Seven representatives from the Ministries of Interior of Spain, Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Poland and Finland will also participate in the meeting. It will approve the activity report for the first six months of the year and the plan for the development and integration of the HUB into the European security ecosystem.

The EU Security HUB in the Republic of Moldova was established on 11 July 2022 in Prague. Its second meeting took place in Chisinau in September last year.
