The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will build a road bridge over the Dniester at the common border

By the middle of 2023, an agreement could be signed regarding the construction of a road bridge over the Dniester River, at the common border between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. An agreement in this sense was reached by the prime ministers of the two countries in Kyiv.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal during a conference after the meeting with the Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

According to Shmigal, the construction of this bridge will expand the joint logistics capabilities.

At the same time, Shmigal mentioned the need to intensify trilateral relations in the Ukraine-Moldova-Romania format. Thus, a meeting of the heads of government from the three states is expected next year.

The parties also agreed to remove administrative and procedural barriers in order to ensure the free movement of citizens, goods and services between the two countries.

Gavrilița and Shmigal agreed that the news marathon broadcast by several Ukrainian channels should also be broadcast in Moldova. "This will allow us to fight more effectively against Russian fakes and disinformation," the prime minister said in Kyiv.

The officials also discussed the creation of a bilateral working group to coordinate the integration of Ukraine and Moldova into the EU.

The parties agreed to cooperate on air defence issues, improve border control and maintain cooperation and dialogue on peace and security issues in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

Denis Shmigal also announced that he agreed with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița that 2023 will be declared the year of Ukrainian culture in the Republic of Moldova, which will contribute to the rapprochement of the two countries.
