Moldova strengthens EU integration with Sweden pact

Moldova and Sweden have signed a memorandum to strengthen cooperation on the Republic of Moldova’s integration into the European Union’s Single Market. The agreement was concluded between the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization and the Swedish National Board of Trade.
The framework is designed to enhance institutional capacity for implementing EU accession-related reforms, with a particular focus on the free movement of services and Moldova’s participation in the EU internal market.
The cooperation builds on a structured partnership launched in 2023, aimed at aligning national legislation with the EU acquis. It also supports the implementation of the Services Directive, the development of economic analysis tools, and structured engagement with the business community.
In the coming period, the partnership will support the rollout of a roadmap for applying legislation on the freedom of establishment and service provision. It will also strengthen mechanisms to prevent new regulatory barriers in the services sector.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the memorandum reflects a shared commitment by Moldova and Sweden to advance EU integration reforms. These efforts are expected to enhance economic competitiveness and improve the predictability of the business environment.
