Chisinau-Venice flight diverts into Ukraine airspace

A Moldovan passenger flight bound for Venice bypassed severe storms by entering restricted Ukrainian airspace, officials confirmed. The tactical maneuver was fully coordinated with defense and aviation authorities to ensure aircraft safety.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the flight crew requested emergency clearance to enter the neighboring country's sovereign airspace. Officials emphasized that the brief detour presented no security risks to the passengers or crew on board.

Ukraine closed its civilian airspace immediately following the launch of the full-scale Russian invasion. Currently, only Ukrainian military assets, official state aircraft, or flights operating with specialized clearance from the General Staff of the Armed Forces are permitted to navigate the zone.
