Firefighters end 24-hour battle with Lunca Bâcului blaze

After nearly 24 hours of firefighting efforts, the fire that erupted on Sunday at the warehouse on Lunca Bâcului Street in Chisinau was completely extinguished by Monday morning, June 1, according to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
The IGSU Experimental Firefighting Laboratory has resumed its activities on site.
According to IGSU, during the night, intervention teams secured the area and extinguished isolated hotspots. The fire was completely extinguished on the morning of June 1 at 07:38.
The fire resulted in the loss of technical equipment, tyres, and other goods located in a car service and a warehouse with an area of approximately 1,000 square meters.

The large quantities of stored oil caused the flames to spread rapidly, creating a risk of the fire reaching nearby buildings.
In response, firefighters activated the Red Intervention Plan. A total of 90 employees from the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) were involved, along with 12 specialized vehicles and 18 auxiliary equipment units. Additional resources were also deployed from other institutions, including seven extra intervention units.
The fire, which started at 08:17 in the morning, was contained by noon. Teams from the gas operator "Chișinău-Gaz" participated in the response, as did specialists from "Premier Energy Distribution," who disconnected the natural gas and electricity networks to prevent the risk of electrocution.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and no one was inside the warehouse at the time of the fire.
